Magazine News from Around the Web
Reader’s Digest Association will publish a quarterly magazine and a variety of multimedia platforms in partnership with Dr. Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church and best-selling author of "Purpose Driven Life" intended for a Christian audience. The multimedia endeavors will include a social media network. In other related Reader's Digest news, the magazine is considering a name change.
Things aren't looking great for Alpha Media, publisher of men's magazine Maxim and music magazine Blender. The troubled publisher is currently in financial talks and is expected to turn itself over to creditors.
Lastly, as part of its annual public education campaign, Consumer Reports magazine took out a full-page ad in yesterday's USA Today warning consumers of the dangers of credit card debt. The magazine will also run a series of online ads on consumer/personal finance blogs inlcuding Consumerist.com and Bargainist.com.
