Earlier this week The New York Times
reported that the American Society of Magazine Editors has OK'd
House Beautiful magazine's September issue, which includes a cover pouch ad. The American Society of Magazine Editors says there is no problem with running advertising next to editorial; it's only a problem when a magazine uses the cover just advertising purposes.
This is great news for House Beautiful and other home magazines who don't want to end up shuttered like so many (recap: Domino, O at Home and most recently Southern Accents to name a few) in the genre.
It is great news. And it is even more important because we, readers sometimes don't even notice these small ads and it helps the magazine a lot.
