The folks at the Seacoast African American Cultural Center in Portsmouth, New Hampshire are featuring an exhibit of six decades of African-American history, as chronicled by Ebony magazine. The exhibit's curators spent three months collecting the magazine's covers from people throughout the country. Ebony magazine has been published continuously since 1945.
William A. Emerson Jr., a fearless Southern journalist and author who wrote powerful articles about the civil rights, William Faulkner and the Ku Klux Klan among other things for Newsweek and also served as editor-in-chief for The Saturday Evening Post died last week after a stroke. He was 86.
