We finally got our InStyle 15th Anniversary Special Issue this week and along with the usual thorough fall fashion focus of its September issue, the anniversary issue includes a few celebratory-related tidbits, content and advertising.
On the Editor's Note page is "15 Things You (Probably) Didn't Know About InStyle," which includes little known facts like the magazine is a spin-off of People magazine's Star Tracks section and that the staff donates all beauty products they test to charity. Then there's the reader-voted InStyle magazine favorites like "Most Inspiring Couple" and "Hottest Man of Style" plus a pull-out of all 184 InStyle magazine covers. We also noticed several flashbacks to trends, fashion and pop culture sprinkled throughout the pages.
And Instyle magazine cleverly tied in their 15th anniversary with the "15 for Fall" ad section, which includes ads from brands like Aveda, Ann Taylor, Chloe and more online. This savvy anniversary ad tie-in may explain why InStyle managed to up its page count (514) by 28 pages over last year's September issue, when other fashion magazines were slimmer.
