In an effort to boost growth, new editor-in-chief Susan Casey is said to be making changes to make the magazine more cohesive with "The Oprah Winfrey Show." One of the newest additions to the magazine with this in mind is a monthly column by Dr. Mehmet Oz, a frequent guest on "The Oprah Winfrey" show.
Casey has made staff changes as well that include a new health and environment editor and a new senior editor. Rumors that Casey didn't like the design of the magazine have been fueled by the departure of design director Kerry Robertson. Nylon magazine's award-winning former design director, Patrick Mitchell is her replacement.
Susan Casey was formerly an editor for Outside magazine, a sports and adventure title. While at Outside magazine, Casey and her team won an unprecedented three consecutive National Magazine Awards for General Excellence.
I have to admit I have never bought this magazine though I have always liked Oprah. Maybe it's time to check it out just out of curiosity.
