In case you hadn't noticed, former vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin has launched a full-scale media blitz this week to promote her new memoir, "Going Rogue." She appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday. However, not (surprisingly) all of the media attention she is receiving has been positive or to her liking. In addition to last week's Associated Press discrediting several statements from the book, Newsweek magazine's latest cover features a critical story with the headline,"How Do You Solve a Problem Like Sarah?" along with a photo of Palin in an exercise outfit and sneakers, which was originally taken to accompany a profile in Runner's World magazine. Palin wrote on her Facebook page that the photo choice was "unfortunate" and goes on to blast Newsweek's photo decision as "out-of-context and sexist."
And finally, in a surprising move, BusinessWeek magazine, now owned by Bloomberg, named Josh Tyrangiel, as the business magzine's editor of BusinessWeek. Josh Tyrangiel is currently the deputy managing editor of Time magazine. He had long been a rising star at Time Inc., starting as Time’s music critic. According to The New York Times, "The appointment of Mr. Tyrangiel suggests Mr. Pearlstine [Norman Pearlstine, Bloomberg’s chief content officer and the former editor-in-chief of Time Inc.]does not want to radically depart from the traditional magazine formula with BusinessWeek." Media insiders note that Josh Tyrangiel does not have a strong business background; instead he previously worked at music magazines Vibe and Rolling Stone before working at Time magazine as a music critic.
