After scary rumors of demise last month, Newsweek has (thankfully) sold Budget Travel magazine to Fletcher Asset Management, a New York investment company. Tom Ascheim, CEO of Newsweek said of the sale, "We have been proud to publish Budget Travel, a magazine and website that has won many awards and is well-respected in the industry. "We are delighted that under the ownership of Fletcher, Budget Travel's legacy will carry on and its staff will continue to do their great work."
Redbook magazine is bringing in six new columnists in the new year, including a guy. The 106-year-old magazine has not had a male columnist in at least 10 years, reports MediaWeek. The guy is Aaron Traister and he will write a column on men, women, marriage and family called 'The Why's Guy.'
With 603 ad pages in 2009 min reports that The Week magazine was up 10%, and thus is the only weekly newsmagazine to show growth.
